REDWOOD CITY, CA — With Father's Day on Sunday, the Redwood City Improvement Association has a few suggestions for those who would like to take their dad out on his special day.

California reopened its economy earlier this week, and Fera Hashemi, co-owner of Arya Steakhouse on Middlefield Road, said that people can finally enjoy dining out "the way it was meant to be."

“Come out and celebrate Dad all weekend long in Redwood City," Hashemi said. "We are working hard to make sure this Father’s Day is super special, because Dad deserves a break."

Other downtown businesses worth checking out with Dad include:

• Veloro for custom bicycles.
• Captain’s SK8 Collective & Barber Shop for a fresh look.
• Retreat Salon for some much-needed pampering.
• Golden Time Jewelers for some stylish wearables.

Stop by Peet’s Coffee or Philz Coffee for a mid-day pick-me-up. Other food and drink options are:

• Pizza from Donato Enoteca, which is also offering a virtual pizza making class.
• Tapas from LV Mar.
• Traditional Japanese teppanyaki from Sakura.
• All-natural and sustainably-raised meats and specialty products from Gambrel and Co.

Top it off with drinks at Alhambra Irish House or Gourmet Haus Staudt’s, and then end the evening with a movie at Century 20 Theater.
