Hwy. 101-Woodside Rd. Interchange Project Continues On Peninsula
The heavily traveled connection will receive improvements for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Traffic congestion problems in the San Francisco Bay Area represents Job 1 for agencies operating in the region. With that in mind, the U.S. Highway 101-Woodside Road interchange project is progressing, with the final design of the project revealing dramatic benefits for users of the popular thoroughfare.
Right-of-way descriptions and costs are being refined as the City Council's Transportation/Mobility Sub-Committee is receiving regular briefs on the project's status, with the last one being in May.
Modernized, interconnected traffic signals are being installed as well as additional lanes on Woodside Road, aka Highway 84, from U.S. Highway 101 to Bay Road, providing better access crossing over to the main San Francisco Peninsula artery.

Pedestrians and bicyclists will also benefit from shared-use paths that cross Highway 101 where none now exists along Woodside Road and next to the Union Pacific Railroad Redwood Harbor Industrial Lead serving the Bayfront and Seaport area. The project is intended to remove a traffic bottleneck that routinely delays Port and Seaport Boulevard area.
These paths will provide dual continuous connections between Broadway and Blomquist/East Bayshore — and the Bay Trail.
