Man Arrested In Redwood City On Suspicion Of Fireworks Discharge
The man was also arrested on suspicion of other crimes after police discovered he was out on parole.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A man was arrested in Redwood City on suspicion of several crimes after police said they saw him setting off fireworks in the area of Devonshire Avenue and Dumbarton Avenue in unincorporated Redwood City.
Mario Ventura, a 49-year-old Menlo Park resident, was charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and possession of tear gas by felon in addition to possession/discharge of fireworks.
According to police, Ventura was out on parole. During a subsequent parole search, Ventura was found to have narcotics and a fully discharged “ghost” roman candle firework in his possession, police said.

All fireworks are illegal in unincorporated areas of San Mateo County and fines can range up to $1,000.
