Man Dies In Redwood City After Hit And Run Collision: Police
Police cited a witness, who said that the driver of a white cargo van that struck the victim fled the scene after examining his vehicle.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Redwood City early Monday morning in an apparent hit and run incident, police said.
The incident occurred around 2:24 a.m. at the 1600 block of El Camino Real. Police cited a witness, who said that the driver of a white cargo van that struck the victim fled the scene after examining damage to his vehicle.
The suspect was later identified by police as Carl Hofstetter, 69, via video surveillance from a nearby business. Hofstetter admitted to his involvement in the collision, according to police, and was charged with felony hit and run and vehicular homicide. He was arrested on Monday afternoon.

Police found the victim lying unconscious with major injuries in the middle of the road. Medical personnel later pronounced him dead at the scene.
