Miramar Events presents Birdman Bats Ballapalooza
A Feel-Good Festival for Baseball, Craft Beer & Music Lovers, December 21 in Redwood City

To celebrate Opening Day of Birdman Bats new shop and studio workspace in Redwood City as well as the glorious wonder of the game of baseball, join us as Miramar Events presents Birdman Bats Ballapalooza, a super fun, free and easy, feel-good festival on Saturday, December 21 from 12pm to 5pm at Birdman Bats outdoor lot event space, 3168 Bay Road in Redwood City, CA.
Birdman Bats is a Bay Area-based start-up boutique maker of maple and birch baseball bats, all custom-crafted & dripping with personality.

HIGHLIGHTS:
•The Bump – a big stage with live music featuring Coast Tribe plus DJs and Q&A sessions

•The Box – Break out the lumber and head for Batters Box Mobile Batting Cage with Home Run Derby hitting contests, games and demos. Put Some Wings On It HitTrax Home Run Derby schedule: JR Bird HR Derby (13 and under) –– 1pm-2pm, Teenie Bird HR Derby (18 and under) –– 2pm-3pm, Big Bird HR Derby (19 and over) –– 3pm-4pm. Register online and save $5! Online registration also includes a Birdbox Swag Bag with Birdman key chains, stickers, and discounts! Winner of each age division will receive a commemorative Birdman Bat. Runner up will win a t-shirt. Participants may only swing Birdman Bats. •The Bullpen – with food trucks, Elixir To Go's mobile bar with craft cocktails, beer and wine, Birdman custom-crafted bats and merch tent, a goofy selfie photowall for social media sharing, Cornhole game zone, promo booths with giveaways and free swag
•The Process – guided tours of the new shop and studio workspace
•Q&A Sessions:
1pm – David Klein, Founder & Chief Experience Officer of America Offline on how developing intentional tech usage habits can help athletic development and enhance team unity. Along with how tech overuse can hurt ones ability to get restorative sleep, focus on the field and move passed failures.
2:30pm – Lars Anderson – writer and podcaster for The Athletic and retired professional baseball player. A first baseman, he played for the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2010 through 2012.
4pm – Gary Malec and Cody Silveria – principals of Birdman Bats to tell their fascinating story of launching and building a singular, custom-crafted bat making business and brand.
•Live music all afternon by Coast Tribe. Based in Half Moon Bay, Coast Tribe’s unique style encompasses elements from diverse genres like reggae, funk, hip hop, and heavy metal. Expressive lyrics paint pictures of the struggles of the modern world and words that celebrate life and music. The band is comprised of multi-talented artists and their sound is a representation of this fusion. Never settling for the status-quo, Coast Tribe aims to surpass expectations and push their sound to its fullest during their high energy live shows or in the studio.
•Bring your appetite! Alebrijes Oaxacan Kitchen serves authentic Oaxacan food, the best in the Bay Area – traditional dishes like Tlayudas, Memelitas, Blandas & Enchiladas. Nahua Pizza has legions of fans for it’s handcrafted wood-fired artisan thin crust pizza.
•Ballapalooza Bullpen Bar custom cocktails (“Cocktail of the Year” winners at SF International Spirits Competition): Curveball (small batch vodka, fresh cucumber and lime), Home Rum (rum, pineapple and pomegranate punch), Beat LA! (reposado tequila, jalapeno and agave), Bye Bye Baby (beer barrel aged bourbon, lemon and mint), Extra Inning (served hot), freshmade coffee and Jamison whiskey). Curated by event beverage director Ananda Neil of Craft Bar and Elixir To Go.

•No outside food, beverages or alcohol is allowed into the event.

WHERE: Birdman Bats outdoor lot event space, 3168 Bay Road in Redwood City, CA ADMISSION: Admission is free with suggested donation of a toy or book for the Birdman Lifts Holiday Drive in partnership with Redwood City Firefighters/PAL Toy and Book Drive. The event is open to all ages.
PARKING, RIDE SHARING & PUBLIC TRANSIT: Vehicle parking is available on surrounding streets. Use of ride sharing, Caltrain and SamTrans bus service public transit is encouraged. There is a designated Ride Share drop-off pick up spot at the event entrance. Download the ParkMobile app for visitor parking at nearby Stanford Redwood City (SRWC) on the first floor of the Barron Parking Garage and also in SRWC surface lots. There are no visitor parking kiosks at SRWC, so we recommend that visitors download the ParkMobile app in advance for greater convenience.
