Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Caltrain On Peninsula
The person was crossing the grade at 5:44 a.m. when a train with 50 people on board collided crashed. No one on the train was hurt.

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday morning by a train in Redwood City. San Mateo County Transit District officials said the pedestrian was trespassing on the tracks at the Whipple Avenue grade crossing around 5:44 a.m. when the incident occurred.
All trains were initially stopped in the area so emergency crews could investigate the scene.
Officials said there were approximately 50 passengers on the train when it struck the pedestrian. There were no other reported injuries. At 6:12 a.m., the northbound track was reopened for single tracking at restricted speeds through the area.

The San Mateo County coroner's office responded to the scene at 6:39 a.m.
This is Caltrain's first fatality of 2019, according to officials.
