Photos: Farmers' Market Brightens Tuesdays

The Rotary Club of Redwood welcomed the debut of the Tuesday Farmers' Markets.

Farmers’ Markets are synonymous with springtime and wonderfully fresh produce. The Rotary Farmers’ Market debuted Tuesday night, joining two well-established farmers’ markets, the on Saturdays and the Kaiser Permanente market on Wednesdays at Cañada College.

The farmers’ market has over 80 booths, the largest market in Redwood City, according to Lilia Ledezma, the main organizer and Rotary Club president-elect.

“It’s so amazing to see it all come together,” she said.

The Redwood City Rotary Club plans to use the season booth fee to fund the scholarships the organization gives to high school students to attend higher education, Ledezma said. It also supports senior organizations and others like . Funds also contribute to the International Rotary Club, which supports an AIDS clinic in Malawi, Africa, and is working to eradicate polio worldwide.

The farmers’ market will be open every Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. around until the end of September, featuring food, flowers, jewelry and live entertainment.
