Redwood City Attempted Child Kidnapping Suspect Arrested

A man is accused of grabbing a 16-year-old minor female at the Teaspoon Coffeebar and attempting to pull her away, according to police.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City police arrested a man in connection with a child kidnapping attempt on Friday.

Brandon Yamagata, 35, is accused of grabbing a 16-year-old minor female at the Teaspoon Coffeebar and attempting to pull her away, according to police. Yamagata left after a bystander intervened, police said in a news release Tuesday.

Officers detained Yamagata a short distance away and the victim identified him out of a lineup, according to police.

Yamagata, who was out on a parole warrant, faces charges of attempting kidnapping and annoying/molesting a minor. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility.
