Redwood City Eateries Join 'Takeout Tuesday' Food-Bank Benefit

The local restaurants are among several on Peninsula & hundreds nationwide donating chunk of Tuesday sales to support area families in need.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Restaurants from coast to coast, including three in Redwood City, are participating in a "Takeout For Good" fundraiser on Tuesday with a portion of the day's sales going to local food banks — an effort now particularly key as the coronavirus pandemic has fueled massive unemployment and accompanying food insecurity, according to organizers.

“The goal is to raise funds for a cause deeply impacted by COVID-19 while keeping restaurants connected with their communities,” said Devin Baptiste, co-founder and CEO of GroupRaise, a restaurant-industry fundraising platform.

“When you see that over 30 million Americans have filed for unemployment in a matter of weeks, it’s clear that there is a need," he said. "And we saw how to help — one day dedicated to uplifting families in need in our communities while assisting local restaurants.”
