Redwood City Fire Dept. Helps Kids Get Ready for School

Backpack donation barrels will be located throughout Redwood City as of Monday, August 1.

From the City of Redwood:

REDWOOD CITY, CA. - The City of Redwood City Fire Department will launch its new School Bag Drive this Monday, August 1 in various locations, helping children in need get ready for school this month.

The drive, which collects backpacks for all school-aged children and teens, is part of the San Mateo County Toy Drive Program. This popular program collects toys throughout the year - not just holidays - for families in need. The program has received an increasing number of requests for backpacks to help kids carry their school supplies at school and on public transit, so the San Mateo County Toy Drive Program developed the School Bag Drive to address this need. The toys and bags will be distributed to children and families struggling due to fire, illness, financial stress or other difficulties.
