REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City is attempting an innovative solution in an attempt to solve parking frustrations around the Bay Area.

According to ABC7, the city is in the process of installing sensors on top of light poles that can alert drivers to open spaces. Redwood City has partnered with the Germany tech company Cleverciti to put in the sensors.

While the pandemic has reduced the need for parking, the omnipresent issue is expected to come back once society opens up again. Drivers have said that it can take up to a half hour to find parking, and if the sensors work, it could reduce search time by 45 percent, the report said.
