San Mateo Co. Opens Weekly North Fair Oaks COVID Vaccine Clinic
North Fair Oaks has one of the lowest percentages of eligible residents vaccinated in the county, at 61 percent as of Friday.

NORTH FAIR OAKS, CA — San Mateo County is opening a weekly COVID-19 vaccination clinic in North Fair Oaks beginning Sunday in an attempt to ensure access to vaccines for an area that has been hit hard by the virus.
North Fair Oaks, an unincorporated area near Redwood City of around 15,00 residents, has one of the lowest percentages of eligible residents vaccinated in the county, at 61 percent as of Friday. Through a partnership with Dignity Health, Redwood City and the Sequoia Healthcare District, the county hopes to provide a more predictable schedule for community members to get vaccinated without an appointment.
“From the beginning, we’ve said that our comeback depends on all of us, and that also means it depends on all of us working together to meet residents where they are at,” said County Supervisor Warren Slocum, whose district includes North Fair Oaks, in a news release. “This pandemic has highlighted that we are responsible not only for our own health but those around us, and our vaccination efforts are no different. Every shot in an arm is a success for our county.”

The site, located at Fair Oaks Health Center at 2710 Middlefield Rd. in Redwood City, will be mostly operated by Dignity Health and Redwood City. Funding will be provided by the Sequoia Healthcare District and the county will assist with outreach. No appointment is necessary for community members to get vaccinated.
Earlier this week, the county announced that it was reopening a mass vaccination site at the San Mateo County Event Center as vaccine supply has increased, and that it plans to hold two to three hold mass vaccination events a week for community members. As of Friday, the county has vaccinated more than 72 percent of its eligible residents.

Officials hope that targeted clinics such as the one in North Fair Oaks will increase access and convenience for the county’s most vulnerable residents who may not be able to access mass vaccination centers due to work schedules, transportation issues or the inability to use technology.
“The partnership among the County, Dignity Health, Sequoia Healthcare District and Redwood City exemplifies how, collectively, we are working hard to make receiving a vaccine easier, more accessible and convenient for our Redwood City and North Fair Oaks residents,” said Redwood City Mayor Diane Howard in a news release. “We are all eager to welcome some level of normalcy back into our lives, and these vaccination clinics will be instrumental in getting us there.”
The clinic will be open on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
