San Mateo County Receives Two National Achievement Awards

The county assessor's office was recognized for the Assessor Parcel Web Portal project and the Assessor's Building Plans Submission Portal.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County received two achievement awards from the National Association of Counties for work by the Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Elections (ACRE).

The ACRE was acknowledged for the Assessor Parcel Web Portal project and the Assessor’s Building Plans Submission Portal.

In a news release on Tuesday, National Association of Counties President Gary Moore applauded the winners for illustrating “the innovative ways counties build healthy, safe and vibrant communities across America.”

The web portal project, launched in 2017, replaced the previously hand-drafted mylar maps and has improved accessibility, eliminated extra licensing costs and created more accurate and reliable parcel datasets, according to the county.

The submission portal has streamlined the building permit process for homeowners and businesses, allowing for receipt and review of building plans using electronic architectural drawings, the county said.

Mark Church, the county’s assessor-county clerk-recorder and chief elections officer, said in a news release that both of the projects have saved taxpayers’ time and money.

“I’m pleased that the National Association of Counties has recognized the hard work of our staff and ‘Smart’ solutions these projects represent,” Church said. “Through these programs, San Mateo County is continuing its tradition as a national leader in technological solutions for serving the public.”
