Search Dog Can't Locate Burglary Suspects

Police responded to a report of a burglary in Palo Alto Thursday morning and eventually recovered stolen items from a car the suspects had abandoned in Mountain View.

A witness called police around 9:40 a.m. to report a man running out of a neighbor's side yard in the 300 block of Louis Road with what they thought was stolen property.

The man then reportedly got into the passenger side of a 1994 Lexus sedan as it drove away, police said.

At 10:01 a.m., the suspect was seen driving on Shoreline Boulevard near U.S. Highway 101, but the driver made a U-turn and officers were unable to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle was next seen by police driving erratically through the parking lot of Gold's Gym in Mountain View, but the suspect evaded officers a second time, police said.

Ten minutes later, a Mountain View police officer located the vehicle in Google's parking lot, where it had been abandoned. The suspects had presumably fled on foot, according to police.

Officers found property stolen from the home, including a television and other stolen electronics, in the abandoned car.

Police were unable to locate the suspects, even with the help of a canine unit sent by Redwood City police.

The suspect seen running out of the yard was described as aHispanic man of husky build in his early 20s who was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, police said.
