Navy reservist Lieutenant Commander Anne Marie Borys, a nurse in the Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab, recently returned from a seven-month deployment in Afghanistan, and her colleagues will receive an award from the Department of Defense this Wednesday, June 17 at 7:30 a.m. for the support they provided while she was away.

Cath Lab manager Gayle Johnson will accept the award on behalf of the department’s entire staff. Borys’ colleagues sent care packages and supplies to her unit and others while she was stationed as a trauma ICU nurse in a NATO medical facility within the Kandahar Province. A retired colonel will present the Patriot Award to Ms. Johnson.
