Are You Seeing Youth Problems on Broadway Terrace?
We recently saw a brief report saying school-aged youth are creating problems on Broadway Terrace, including graffiti, pot smoking and partying before school. Have you seen such problems? You can tell us in the comments.
According to minutes from last month's meeting of the Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council, a problem-solving officer from the Oakland Police Department reported "problem with school kids on Broadway Terrace – graffiti, kids hanging around, smoking pot, and partying even before school."
The neighborhood includes the Oakland Technical High School upper campus, which houses the school's Fashion Arts & Design Academy. (FADA publishes its own online magazine, Authentique, here.)
While the upper campus entrance is on Clifton Street, its address is 5263 Broadway Terrace (at Thomas Street). At various times in past years the site housed Rockridge Elementary School, Far West High School and the Oakland School for the Arts.
