Bay Area Officer Administers Naloxone Amid Suspected Overdose

A police officer in Emeryville on Friday administered Naloxone to an unresponsive man during a suspected opioid overdose.

EMERYVILLE, CA — A police officer in Emeryville on Friday administered Naloxone to an unresponsive man during a suspected opioid overdose.

On Friday at 6:29 p.m., officers with the Emeryville Police Department were dispatched to 3889 San Pablo Ave. on a report of an unresponsive man on the sidewalk.

Arriving officers located the man and found his breathing was shallow, and he was not responsive.
An officer recognized the symptoms of an opioid overdose and with responding medics at the scene administered Naloxone to the man.

Police said the man's condition improved, and he was transported to a hospital for medical attention.
