Business Help Available For Entrepreneurs, Small Business Owners

Ohlone College received a grant to provide support to Alameda County small business entrepreneurs, including in Oakland.

OAKLAND, CA — Has your small business run into some problems, or you haven't launched because you're uncertain of your next steps? Help is available. The cost to you: nothing.

The Ohlone Community College District has been awarded a $521,575 Alameda County Small Business Development Center (ACSBDC) program grant specifically to help your business.

“The goal is to greatly increase the availability of business expertise throughout the area,” said Kristin R. Johnson, Region Director of the Northern California SBDC. The program will be located at the Ohlone College Newark campus. But business consulting and training will be offered in nine locations throughout Alameda County including Newark, Fremont, Hayward, Dublin, the city of Alameda, San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Castro Valley, and Oakland.

A free Social Media/Marketing Workshop will be held in Castro Valley on Thursday, May 15, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Chabot Room of Castro Valley Library, 3600 Norbridge, Castro Valley 94546. Register now.

The Alameda County Small Business Development Center is led by Interim Program Director Margaret A. Jackson. She is a former lead advisor of the Silicon Valley Small Business Development Center.

“The opportunity to champion small businesses is a serious responsibility; together with Ohlone College, our expert advisors, region support, and local partners, we can champion small businesses and the aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the entire Alameda County,” added Jackson. “No small business or aspiring entrepreneur will be left behind. We all win together."
