Give Thanks to our Front Line Health Workers
It Takes A Village Gives Thanks to our Front Line Health Care Workers by donating our 61,000th face mask as we enter Thanskgiving week
It Takes A Village Bay Area (ITAV) is proud to support the valuable work of our Front Line Healthcare workers. Over 61,000 face masks have been given to Healthcare workers to provide to communities in need since the start of the Pandemic. We enter into Thanksgiving week honoring the around the clock care of Healthcare workers for the past 10 months. We are reminded of the sacrifices Healthcare workers have and will make in the coming months.
When we entered into Shelter-In-Place in March, ITAV was born. To date, the 270 member grass-roots community group has made and donated over 34,000 fabric face masks for children and adults, over 20,000 refurbished N95’s, and 6,400 KN95’s totaling over 61,000 face masks and over 19,000 face shields. Our members include Boy/Girl Scout troops, youth community groups and a community of volunteers extending from Piedmont/Oakland, west to San Francisco, east to Dublin and south to Fremont.
ITAV supports the medically underserved including safety net hospitals, federally qualified health care centers and communities in need. These include Highland Hospital, UCSF Benioff Oakland Children’s Hospital, La Clinica, UCSF Zuckerberg SF General and Healthright 360 San Francisco. ITAV is one of the few groups that continues to make and donate while this Pandemic is in its serious fall/winter surge. You can help us continue our reach. We need: large cardboard moving cartons, fabric donations, volunteer sewists and cash funds to purchase elastic and fabric. See us at www.it-takes-a-village.org.
