Identity of Suspect Who Allegedly Fled from Police Released
The man died after squeezing between two buildings and becoming wedged into aspace less than one-foot wide.

A man who police said died after squeezing between two buildings while fleeing officers in Oakland on Sunday evening has been identified by friends and family as 23-year-old Richard Linyard.
Numerous messages of condolences were left on social media accounts belonging to Linyard, an East Oakland rapper who went by the name Afrikan Richie.
Police said Linyard died while fleeing officers after a traffic stop in the 1300 block of 65th Avenue, just off International Boulevard. Linyard was alone in the car when he was pulled over at about 5:45 p.m. and ran into nearby yards, according to police.

Officers set up a perimeter in the area to search for him and found him about a half-hour later wedged into a space less than a foot wide between two buildings, police said.

He was unresponsive. Officers performed CPR and had him transported to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead there a short time later, police said.
Oakland police have not elaborated on how Linyard died. They said he was wanted on an unspecified $10,000 warrant and had a pound of marijuana in the car. Linyard collaborated with his brother Devin, who goes by Lil Dev.
The two posted numerous music videos to YouTube and released an album titled
“Trubble” together last month.
A GoFundMe page established to raise money for his burial had raised $1,750 of a $3,000 goal as of this morning. The GoFundMe page is located at www.gofundme.com/zsv984.
