Kaiser Permanente names top hospital exec in Oakland & Richmond
Jeff Collins will oversee two hospitals and multiple outpatient facilities

Jeff Collins, a health-care executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience, has been appointed the senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente in northern Alameda County and west Contra Costa County, overseeing the Oakland and Richmond Medical Centers as well as outpatient facilities in Oakland, Alameda, and Pinole.

Collins was previously the Kaiser Permanente senior vice president and area manager in Roseville and was appointed to his new position late last year. He is responsible for all local health plan and hospital services at the 315-bed Oakland Medical Center and 50-bed Richmond Medical Center, and, partnering with physician leaders, oversees the health care of more than 340,000 Kaiser Permanente members in the East Bay area.

Before joining Kaiser Permanente in 2008 as the chief hospital executive in Fresno, Collins had been with hospital systems in three states including California, Florida, and Michigan.
During Collins’ three years as the chief hospital executive in Roseville, Kaiser Permanente experienced significant membership growth in the service area. He oversaw the start of construction of a new, five-story medical office building, and every year under his leadership the hospital was awarded A’s from The Leapfrog Group and accolades from the American Heart and Stroke Association.

Collins, 61, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Saint Cloud State University in St. Cloud Minnesota, and a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Cal State Long Beach.
