Kitten Saved From Freeway By CHP Officer

OAKLAND, CA — A California Highway Patrol officer rescued a kitten from Interstate Highway 880 on his first day on the job last month.

The CHP's Oakland office shared the story on social media on Monday. Officer Kittle - his first name wasn't provided - received his final call of the day June 29 about a kitten stuck in the center divide of Interstate Highway 880 near 16th Street.

When Kittle and his field-training officer arrived, they stopped traffic and tried to surround the kitten, but it scampered under their car.

Kittle grabbed the kitten before it could climb into the engine bay of the car, and took it to Oakland Animal Services to hopefully be adopted, the CHP said.
