The Tribune quoted City Councilman Dan Kalb, who represents Rockridge and other parts of North Oakland, as saying that the incident happened about three blocks from his home.

Kalb himself was the victim of an armed robbery in the 5100 block of Manila Avenue last October. He was not injured in that incident.

Kalb told the Tribune that he received an email from Oakland police about Saturday night's robbery that said the victim suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital.

""Crime has gotten serious in almost every neighborhood in the city and Rockridge, where this incident happened and where I happen to live, is no exception," the Tribune quoted Kalb as saying.
