Man Vandalizes St. Theresa Catholic Church — St. Theresa School, Hillcrest, Holy Names Locked Down

A man smashed an egg on the church altar and left a note behind.

St. Theresa School and Hillcrest School in Upper Rockridge were on lockdown for about two hours this morning, Friday, after a man vandalized nearby St. Theresa Catholic Church by breaking an egg on the altar, according to an article on the Oakland Tribune website.

The Tribune said Holy Names University was also on lockdown while police searched for the man. [Editor's note: Possibly this should have referred to Holy Names High School, which is close to St. Theresa Church.]

Police said a man entered the church about 8:30 Friday morning while several parishioners were inside praying and left a note on the altar referring to God and homosexuality, then smashed the egg, the Tribune reported.
