Oliveto Makes the Cut in Diablo Food Awards

Oliveto, the second-floor restaurant at Market Hall, 5655 College Ave., Oakland, was named one of Diablo Magazine's top "perennial favorite" restaurants in the magazine's annual Food Awards.

Diablo described Oliveto a "a venerable restaurant that's young at heart ... which is to Oakland what Chez Panisse is to Berkeley: a trailblazer turned icon of the local dining scene."

While Oliveto was the only Rockridge spot to make the list — or lists, in various categories — Diablo praised several other Oakland eateries: Hopscotch in Uptown, chef Sunhui Chang at FuseBox in West Oakland, chef Kim Alter at Haven in Jack London Square and Old Oakland as an overall dining destination.
