Oakland Man ID'd As Pedestrian Victim

He was struck and killed early Sunday on Foothill Boulevard.

OAKLAND, CA — A man struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in East Oakland early Sunday morning has been identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 59-year-old James Lee Brown of Oakland.

Police said Brown was in a crosswalk at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Cole Street shortly before 3:10 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Foothill.

The vehicle failed to stop after hitting Brown, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
