Oakland's Crime Consultants Start Mid-Month
Will advisors — including controversial former Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton — make a dent in the city's crime rate?

The crime consultants hired by the City of Oakland at a cost of $250,000 will start their work in the middle of this month, Oakland North reports in the first of a four-series on the city's contract with Strategic Policy Partners.
The Oakland City Council approved the contract 7-1 on Jan. 23 after hours of public comment, much of it centered on the team's most controversial member, former Los Angeles Police Department Chief William Bratton.
Oakland North says it will "look at why the consultants were brought in, who makes up this new group, how Bratton became a big name in policing and what issues residents think the consultants should tackle first" in three additional articles over the next two weeks.
