OAKLAND, CA — After a week-long strike, teachers and students will return to the classroom on Monday after teachers voted Sunday to ratify a contract agreement reached with Oakland Unified School District. The agreement was announced on Friday.
The contract includes an 11 percent salary hike over four years with a one-time 3 percent bonus. In addition to the salary increase, the agreement calls for a reduction in class sizes.
The Oakland Education Association represents 3,000 teachers, nurses, counselors and other staff.
