OAKLAND, CA — The Contra Costa County coroner's office has identified one of the two people who died in a solo traffic crash Friday as Leana Rubin, 17, of Oakland.

At about 7 p.m. Friday, an SUV crashed into a tree near Lone Tree Way and Indian Hill Drive. One passenger was ejected from the vehicle, and five others were trapped inside and had to be rescued by firefighters.

Police said the six young people had just left a basketball game at nearby Deer Valley High School when the wreck occurred.

The crash remains under investigation. Police have said, however, that excessive speed and wet conditions were likely factors in the accident.
