Oakland Theater on Top 5 List for Vegan Food
Forget buttered popcorn, soda and candy - this movie house is serving persimmon pizza and veggie paninis.
OAKLAND - The New Parkway Theater in Oakland has been ranked as one of the best movie theaters nationwide for vegans, according to a statement issued Friday by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
“When it comes to vegan fare at The New Parkway Theater, the hardest thing is deciding whether to follow the artichoke with white-bean ragout with the refreshing smoothie of the week or a pint of lavender lemonade kombucha,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said in a statement.
The New Parkway was ranked No. 2 among the top five nationwide, which also include theaters in Seattle, Wash., Asheville, N.C., and Austin, Texas.

The top vegan-friendly theater in the United States is the Sun-Ray Cinema in Jacksonville, Florida, according to PETA.
