Oakland's Small Business Week Nurtures Entrepreneurs

Workshops will be held in Rockridge and elsewhere around the city.

OAKLAND, CA — More than 75 free workshops, seminars and events are available this week in Oakland to nurture the city's small businesses, city officials said.

Oakland Small Business Week started Sunday and lasts until May 5.

Sessions are being held at Oakland City Hall and in various neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Rockridge, West Oakland and Fruitvale.

Business owners and entrepreneurs can learn about digital marketing, how to access capital and contracting and procurement opportunities among other topics.

"Keeping our long-rooted businesses thriving in the changing economy is vital to maintaining the character of Oakland," Mayor Libby Schaaf said in a statement.

Business owners who want to access the city's business assistance services year-round can go to the Oakland Business Assistance Center at 270 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza. The center can be reached by calling (510) 238-7952 or online.
