Police 'Special Ops' Closes Part of College Avenue to Traffic

Details are skimpy, but Oakland police apparently made a vehicle stop midday that was related to a hours-long surveillance operation.

Oakland police conducted what they termed a "special ops" surveillance from about 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in the vicinity of College Avenue and Broadway, according to an Oakland Police Department dispatcher.

A Rockridge Patch reader reported a large police presence at the intersection shortly after noon, blocking access to College Avenue from Brroadway. One lane of traffic on College was closed, the reader said.

The dispatcher said a midday vehicle stop in the area was related to the special operation.
