Plans for Old Shell Station Still a Mystery

There are rumors of a commercial/residential building.

As demolition and digging continues at the corner of College and Claremont Avenues, an Oakland city planner says it’s too early to know what the owners have planned for the wedge of property that until recently was a Shell gas station.

Jason Madani, a case planner for the city, did say that work stopped briefly last week at 6039 College Ave. after neighbors reported that the demolition project was damaging nearby trees. Madani said that the problem with the trees has been resolved, and the lengthy process of a converting a former gas station to another use has resumed.

The Rockridge News notes in its February issue that there are rumors of a commercial/residential building. What would you like to see there?
