Smoky Haze Over Lake Merritt: Photo Of The Day
While there's a slight hint of smoke in the sky, it remains a beautiful blue with its reflection glistening on the lake.
OAKLAND, CA — Even when it's not absolutely perfect, Lake Merritt is breathtaking.
Francesca Austin has a fascinating story about this photo, snapped on Tuesday of last week, "I race walked with my walking partner past a terrible fire on 2nd and International Blvd in Oakland at 8:45 this morning. It left a smoky haze over the east side of the Lake Merritt estuary. But the scene looked peaceful and still with clear reflections under a cloudless sky."
