Victim Found Near Joaquin Miller Park Identified

Body of 24-year-old man was found in the Oakland hills.

A 24-year-old man found fatally shot Wednesday morning on the outskirts of a nature park in the Oakland hills has been identified.

Reynaldo Vazquez, of Oakland, was discovered lying next to the roadway by a bicyclist at Joaquin Miller Road and Skyline Boulevard, near Joaquin Miller Park. Oakland police said officers responded at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday to the scene, where Vazquez was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds.

Police said no information is yet available on when the shooting occurred and whether Vazquez was shot in the location he was found. Potential suspects as well as a motive are also being investigated.
