County Approves Use Permit for Local Sports Complex
A 17,665-square-foot facility on 1.79 acres comes closer to being a reality.
Sacramento County Board of Supervisors gave their seal of approval for the construction of a 17,000 square-foot sports facility to take over a vacant Rancho Cordova facilitiy Monday evening.
The complex would consist of two basketball/volleyball courts, and fitness, agility and weight rooms, according to the proposal. A reception area, offices, a break room and a conference room would also be included. Hours of operation would be Monday through Friday 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The approval is subject to certain conditions recommended by staff, in particular prior to the issuance of building permits, that project managers submit a letter from the property owner to the north indicating that they agree to shared parking.

Other conditions must be met as well, such as requiring the applicant comply with all ordinances, statutes, etc.; and maintaining all sewer services, which may come with additional sewage upkeep fees.
The facility is required to share 67 parking spaces; however, the property contains only 61 parking spaces. According to the staff report, the property to the north of the Sports Court requires only eight parking spaces but is developed with 53 spaces.
