Dogs Rescued in Nearby Morning Fire

The pets were transported to a nearby animal hospital where they remain in critical condition, fire officials say.

A pair of nearby Rancho Cordova locals are in critical condition after their owners reported a fire in their mobile home Friday morning.

Metro Fire units were dispatched to a report of a fire in the mobile home on Redcoat Lane and found heavy smoke coming from a double wide mobile home and fire in the back bedroom area, according to a Metro Fire press release.

Fire officials explain crew members immediately began fire suppression activities and the search for two dogs which were reported to still be inside. Fire crews located the dogs, removed them to safety and began resuscitative efforts.

Sacramento County Animal Control Officers arrived and, according to Metro Fire officials, the dogs were transported to a nearby pet hospital where at the time of this release they remain in critical condition.

Firefighting efforts confined the spread of the fire limiting damage to the structure and personal property to approximately $25,000, according to the release.

No citizens or firefighters were injured as a result of the incident.

Preliminary cause of the fire is still under investigation at the time of this report. Red Cross was requested to aid the two adult occupants.
