Ken Cooley Kicks Off Campaign for District 8 Saturday
The councilman invites community leaders, volunteers and supporters to hit the bricks as he kicks off his campaigning Saturday.

Democratic candidate Ken Cooley will kick off his campaign for the 8th Assembly District Saturday in Arden-Arcade.
Cooley is inviting volunteers to meet with community leaders at his 2628 El Camino Avenue headquarters beginning at 10 a.m. and then go door to door, talking to voters.
“I am thrilled and honored to have such a display of support from so many friends and community leaders in my bid to represent this new district,” said Cooley in a press release.

Cooley, a Rancho Cordova city councilman, earned 43 percent of the vote in the June primary election, beating out Republican candidates of Carmichael at 22.3 percent and Barbara Ortega at 21.0 percent.
Cooley and Tateishi will face off in the November general election to represent the newly formed Assembly District.

The 8th Assembly District includes Arden-Arcade, Carmichael, Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova, Rancho Murieta, Rosemont and Wilton. District 8 is a new district comprising part of the current District 10, which is represented by Alyson Huber (D-El Dorado Hills). Huber is not running for re-election but did endorse Cooley for the new seat.
