Rosemont City Council Moves Meetings Beyond City Hall

These are intended for less-formal discussions among Council members on issues before they come up for final action at regular meetings.

From Rosemont City Council: The Rosemont City Council will make it easier for citizens to participate in the Council’s work by holding two meetings away from City Hall, along with a bike tour.

The Council will hold its monthly work session at Fire Station No. 2, 2047 Connemara Trail W., on Monday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m.

“We have a strong commitment to increasing citizen engagement,” said Mayor Bill Droste, “and one way to do that is to bring our meetings out into the neighborhoods.”

Council work sessions are always open to the public at City Hall, but Council members decided last year they would like to try a meeting at a different location to make them more accessible.

The sessions are intended for less-formal discussions among Council members on issues before they come up for final action at regular meetings. Work sessions usually do not include a section for public comment, but the Council will invite input during the sessions away from City Hall.

About a dozen residents attended a work session at Jaycee Park in June 2016. The Council plans to return there for its July work session this year.

The Council will also invite the public to a bike tour of City facilities later in May.
