Smoke From Placer County Brush Fire Seen In Roseville

PLACER COUNTY, CA — Firefighters quickly stopped the forward spread of a large vegetation fire Friday afternoon near Roseville. The Baseline Fire was reported just before 3 p.m. in the area of Baseline Road and Country Acres Lane in rural Placer County.

As of 6:48 p.m., the blaze was 614 acres but was 100-percent contained, according to a final update from Cal Fire's Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit.

Early reports indicated the wildfire north of Rio Linda may have threatened structures at some point, although Cal Fire made no mention of any damaged or destroyed homes or buildings.

Air resources from Sac Metro Fire, Cal Fire and Roseville City Fire assisted with the firefight.

The cause of the Baseline Fire remained under investigation Friday evening.

About 12 miles southwest of that blaze, a separate grass fire broke out near the Sacramento International Airport (SMF) Friday afternoon in the area of Metro Air Parkway and Skyking Road.
