Roseville High Lockdown Lifted

Police say a student overheard a conversation where a gun was mentioned.

ROSEVILLE, CA — Roseville High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday after a student overheard a conversation where a gun was mentioned.

According to police, the gun or any other weapon was not seen. The school was put on lockdown as a precaution while police investigated.

The school district said the student overheard the conversation while she was in the restroom and thought another student in the restroom had a gun, based on what she overheard. Everyone who was in the restroom at the time was located. They were then questioned and searched.

It was later determined that it was a misunderstanding.

"The safety and security of our students and staff is our number one priority," the district said in a statement. "We understand this is a very difficult situation, but we will always error on the side of keeping our school community safe."

Students will be released at 1:35 p.m. and buses will leave at 2:30 p.m. Those taking the bus can stay in the cafeteria till their bus arrives.
