Roseville Local Will Be Playing In 'The Game' On Sunday

Christmas dinner at mom's house was a pretty entertaining comedy of errors. She just bought the house and moved in less than a month ago, so that she'd even unpacked enough to host guests was a feat in its own.

But there is NO ventilation in the kitchen. No exhaust fan, and certainly not a proper exhaust hood. And she just installed a new gas range, and then put a twenty pound turkey in the oven on air-fryer mode.

That's when we found out mom's smoke detectors are hard-wired into the electric, and cannot be turned off. So we spent the full time the bird was in the oven with the windows to the house open, and the back door open, to try to keep the smoke down, and the stupid smoke detector still went off every five minutes or so. On Christmas Day, in western Oklahoma, which is not a tropical clime.

On the other hand, the bird turned out pretty good, and my daughter made biscuits from scratch, and I brought a cranberry pie which turned out to be quite tasty, and that made for three generations of the family contributing to the meal, which I think is pretty cool.
