Another California Toddler Dies After Being Left In Hot Car

SACRAMENTO, CA -- A toddler in Sacramento died after being left in a hot car over the weekend, officials announced Monday. The announcement comes just two weeks after Mendocino County deputies said an 18-month-old died from also being left in a car.

In Sacramento County, deputies responded to a report of a child inside a hot car around 5:53 p.m. last Saturday in the 9700 block of Everbloom Way.

Deputies immediately gave the 2-year-old CPR and transported him to a nearby hospital where he later died, officials said.

Detectives have launched a preliminary investigation but it's unclear how long the child was inside the car. The death is believed to be heat-related but the final cause will be determined by the county's Coroner's Office, officials said.

No arrests have been made so far in the incident.

Elsewhere in Northern California, a toddler died after being left in the car for 10 hours. The mother in that case was arrested on charges of causing a child to suffer great bodily injury or death, Mendocino County officials said.
