  1. Three lawsuits have halted Federal aid to small restaurants. A local owner is frustrated that money he was depending on to reopen his restaurant was rescinded this week due to these lawsuits. (KCRA3)
  2. Sacramento native rapper Gift Of Gab (aka Timothy Parker) has died from kidney failure at 50. Gab was a member of Blackalicious. Fellow member Chief Xcel remembered him with a tribute on Instagram. (CBS Sacramento)
  3. Four cooling centers will be open in Sacramento this weekend. The centers will be open from 8 am to 2 pm and face masks are required. (FOX40)
  4. SacRT and the Midtown Association unveiled plans for a colorful LED light art installation at the 29th Street light rail station. Once completed it will light up the station in beautiful colors every day at dusk to encourage ridership. (Sacramento Press)
  5. Two best friends decided to take their future into their own hands after being affected by pandemic-related layoffs. They are opening their own beauty salon in Sacramento this weekend. Aided by funds from the Juntos Sacramento program, they are excited to turn their disappointment into opportunity. (KCRA3)

  • Get your vintage vibe at the Fly Market. There will be vintage clothing, sneakers, arts and crafts and more. There will be food trucks and entertainment while you shop. Stick around for the raffle! (10 am)
  • Are you planning a summer wedding? This event is for you. Come out to Elk Grove for the Elk Grove Wedding Festival. Lots of vendors will be on hand to help you plan your big event. (11 am)
  • This Paint, Pastries and Pizza event is just for youth. The canvases will be pre-drawn. All you have to do is have a little fun with paint and eat some yummy pastries and pizza! (1 pm)
  • Go for the Maker's Market, stay for the laughs! The Summer of Laughs features local comedians in an outdoor setting following the Maker's Market at The Summer Moon. (4 pm)
  • Cheer on your favorite drag queen at the Queens and Greens Drag Queen putting contest at Flatstick Pub! Come early and meet the queens on the corner of 8th and K for a parade down K Street to start the festivities. (7 pm)

  • If you're craving authentic Thai street food, check out Kin Thai Street Eatery in midtown. It's so authentic they grow one of their ingredients for their green curry in their backyard because they can't find it anywhere local.
  • If you're feeling more like a dessert extravaganza, try Crunbl Cookies. They have locations all over Sacramento. In fact, there's one opening in Folsom this weekend. I had a chance to try these beauties from their soft opening and they are the bomb!
