  1. Just when you thought it was clear to go back onto the freeways after the Hwy 99 closure, expect delays again this weekend due to construction on I-5. Parts of I-5 from the Highway 50 Interchange to Sutterville Road will be closed, likely leading to traffic delays. (ABC10)
  2. A restraining order against a City staffer was denied and now the staffer is counter-suing. Skylar Henry has filed an "Anti-SLAPP" suit against the city for what he says was an attempt to suppress his right to free speech. (CBS Sacramento)
  3. The Sacramento Gay Men's Chorus is singing as a group once again. After being separated during the pandemic, they are back to practicing in anticipation of resuming their season later this summer. (KCRA3)
  4. Sacramento is about to become a little brighter! 39 artists have been chosen to paint murals in 10 locations across the city. “This is an exciting opportunity to bring community and artist collaborations to each district" the city's public art project manager Donald Gensler said. (Sacramento City Express)
  5. Sacramento's Department of Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment (YPCE) will enact a phased reopening of community centers throughout the summer. The schedule is already resuming for services such as youth camps and senior services, but pre-registration is required. The city is also opening 14 pools to the pubic starting this weekend, with $1 admission. (Sacramento City Express)

  • It's Juneteenth and Sacramento is celebrating! There are lots of events you can attend all over the city and surrounding areas. Here are a couple of great lists of a bunch of them! (All Day List 1, All Day List 2)
  • Prefer to avoid the Juneteenth crowds? Go fly a kite! Head on out to the Aerospace Museum of California and see the world's largest rigid winged kite. Stay for a day of building and flying your own lighter-than-air creation. (10 am)
  • Just for Fun Art is offering a family paint experience. For $20 choose from one of its pre-drawn canvasses and have at it! Bring a lunch and have a fun family afternoon! (12 noon)
  • Celebrate the reopening of Sacramento at The Social Nightclub. This is a huge venue with stunning city views. You can even rent an outdoor cabana if you're looking for a VIP experience! Tonight's celebration features Sacramento Kings DJ Elements and Prince Harry. (10 pm)
