Top 5 Stories in Sacramento
- Looks like we made it through the heat wave without any rolling blackouts. While sitting by the candlelight is fun when you're camping, it's not such a treat when it's 110 degrees outside and you don't have any air conditioning. Sacramento escaped that fate this time around. (ABC10)
- Governor Gavin Newsom declared June 19th "Juneteenth National Freedom Day: A Day of Observance." Some activists are concerned that it didn't come with reparations. (KCRA3)
- Multiple homes were damaged in a two alarm fire in the Vinyard area of Sacramento County. The fire was elevated to two alarms due to a lack of water resources in the area. (ABC10)
- Swift water lifeguards are now stationed at the Auburn State Recreation Area. They are the only lifeguards of this kind in the entire California State Park system. Leaders hope to expand this program locally and that could lead to more programs of this kind state wide. (CBS Sacramento)
- The lights are on again at Sacramento areas oldest theaters. The Crest in Sacramento, The State Theatre in Auburn and The Del Oro in Grass Valley all survived the pandemic and are operating again for the public, but it was a long, uncertain road. (SN&R)
Sunday's Events
- What's BOGA? It's Beer and Yoga of course! Stretch yourself a little and try this fun combination at Jackrabbit Brewing. (11 am)
- Bring your dad and his dog to University of Beer where dogs eat free today (with the purchase of a regular burger, sandwich or wrap)! (11:30 am)
- Have a Father's Day bash on the Delta King! There will be live entertainment and cold beer on the landing, and BBQ lunch or dinner in the Pilot House. (12 noon)
- Play ball! Take Dad out to the ballgame to watch the River Cats take on the Salt Lake Bees. Kids run the bases after the game! (1 pm)

- Need to borrow a wah-wah pedal or an African thumb piano? You're in luck! It's a little known secret that Sacramento houses the largest music lending library in the United States. If you just want to try an instrument on for size before you dive in, this is the place to find one!
- A week ago I told you that I was going to walk the Shriner's Hospital of Northern California 20 Mile Incredible Journey Challenge and report back how I did. I'm proud to say my son and I each walked 20 miles last week and earned some money for the good people at Shriners. It was as good for us as it was for them!
