New Executive Director at Los Angeles Academic Center

LOS ANGELES, CA –Dr. Rhonda Brinkley-Kennedy recently joined the university as the new Executive Director at the Union Institute & University Los Angeles Academic Center. This role guides direction for the university’s footprint within the southern California market, while focusing on business development and regional partnerships.

Dr. Brinkley-Kennedy is looking forward to sharing Union’s social justice message. “I am passionate about adult learners and the alignment of social justice with the curriculum,” she noted. “Union offers adults a delivery mode that is designed for students regardless of where they live and work.”

She will share in Union’s mission to change lives and communities with adult learners, and looks forward to meeting the demands of the workforce with degree programs that are in high demand in southern California such as the Child & Adolescent Development major, Criminal Justice Management major, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling major, and the new Graduate Certificate in Leadership in Public Service in partnership with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom Center in Oakland, CA.

UI&U Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Nelson Soto welcomes her leadership. “Dr. Brinkley-Kennedy brings wisdom and experience to the LA Academic Center as they prepare to meet education demands for the region. She is a leader with commitment and dedication to adult learning.”

Brinkley-Kennedy holds a Doctor of Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology, a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from California State University. She is also a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and has a California Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Psychology.
