Here are the top stories today in Sacramento:
- It was a wild pursuit with a happy ending on Wednesday in South Sacramento where a suspect in a stolen vehicle took police on a bullet-ridden chase. After the man exited the vehicle he fled to someone's backyard and entered their house. Shots were heard from inside the home. Thankfully, no one was home at the time and the suspect was taken into custody without anyone being injured. (KCRA3)
- This is a disturbing video. A man in a Nissan Rogue can be seen shooting a projectile at another motorist. The incident happened on June 28th. The suspect was identified and taken into custody on Wednesday without incident. His car was searched and several homemade devices that shoot projectiles were found inside the vehicle, consistent with the damage to the passing motorist's car. (ABC10)
- In response to drought conditions throughout the region, The City of Sacramento has declared a 'Water Watch'. It is asking customers to reduce water use by 10 percent. This is the first of six stages in the Water Shortage Contingency Plan. If the drought worsens further restrictions will be activated as directed by the City Council. (sacramentocityexpress.com)
- Sacramento is about to have an enhanced TV viewing experience. Six Sacramento television stations have teamed up to bring NEXTGEN TV to the region. Viewers will enjoy enhanced audio, enhanced video and increased internet access. (Monterey County Weekly)
- The Sacramento Poor People's Campaign and South Oak Park Community Association will hold a community awareness event and press conference Thursday addressing the American Rescue Plan child tax credit. The groups want to raise awareness of this credit so more deserving families can take advantage of it. In Sacramento County alone, an estimated 300,000 children stand to benefit from the new child tax credit. Families can learn more and sign up at ChildTaxCredit.gov. (KCRA3)
