14 Year Old Drowning Victim Identified
The boy was swimming with friends when he drowned off Crissy Field in San Francisco.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The San Francisco medical examiner's office has identified a teenage boy who drowned at San Francisco's Crissy Field Beach on Monday as Berekteab Yohannes.
Witnesses reported 14-year-old Berekteab missing after he was seen struggling in the water around 2:15 p.m.
Fire Department crews were able to respond and pull him from the water. Despite life-saving efforts, however, he died at the hospital.

According to a GoFundMe account set up by his classmates, Berekteab was a seventh grader at the Claire Lilienthal School and had been enjoying the start of his summer break with friends at the beach the day he died.
The account has been set up to help his family bring his body to Ethiopia, their home country, to lay him to rest.

"We hope this effort will relieve some of the family's stress and bring an element of comfort and support to them, during this heartbreaking time of deep loss," the account says.
