2 People Killed In SF Crashes Monday ID'd

The deadly crashes happened just a block apart.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Two people who died in traffic collisions within a block of each other in the city's Chinatown and North Beach neighborhoods on Monday have been identified by the city's medical examiner's office.

Jessica Christie, a 23-year-old Concord resident, was on a motorcycle headed east on Broadway at about 6 a.m. when she collided with a vehicle at Powell Street, police said.

Christie was ejected from the motorcycle after the crash. She was taken to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries there.

The driver of the other vehicle in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. No arrest was made.

The second deadly collision occurred at about 12:35 p.m. at Powell and Vallejo streets, a block north of the earlier crash, police said.

Ying Kuang, an 86-year-old San Francisco resident, was walking there when he was struck by a commercial vehicle driven by a 49-year-old man.

Kuang died at the scene, according to police.

No arrest was made in the collision and no other details about the case were immediately available.
